The Nissan Sentra has been produced since 1982. It was originally categorized as a subcompact car, but in 2000 it was reclassified as a compact car. Since its release, it has been a solid competitor in its class of other vehicles in the affordable compact sedan segment.

The Sentra delivers the size of a compact car with the roomy interior cabin space of a mid-size. The Nissan Sentra gives drivers good handling and a roomy interior for a car in its class and size and represents a good value for prospective buyers. Sentras are geared toward single drivers, young families, and budget-oriented buyers. The regular, non-performance Sentra models are surprisingly roomy and have good fuel economy ratings, making a used Nissan Sentra an ideal choice for consumers looking for a no-frills everyday car.

Throughout the years, the Nissan Sentra has gone through many changes and upgrades and has always remained a top competitor in its class in style, dependability, function, and value.

In the interior, a new red light that backed the speedometer and control knobs and an audio system that included iPod and USB integration on certain models were added.

Fog lamps are no longer standard on the 2.oS and SL model and leather seats are now only available as an option rather than standard on the SL model which is shown in the lower MSRP.

More key features that changed on the 2016 model were new front fascia, grille, fenders, hood, and signature boomerang headlights. There were now two new 17-inch wheel designs available as options on the SR and SL grades, as well as a new SV 16-inch aluminum-alloy wheel design. The steering wheel gets an upgrade, six-way power driver’s seat with power lumbar (standard on SR and SL), a new console and shifter design, and better seat fabrics. The 2016 Sentra also features adaptive cruise control to monitor traffic in front of you and slow and speed up accordingly. The Sentra in 2017 continues the upscale look of that of the 2016 model with its bold grille, boomerang lights, and aerodynamic front fascia. Inside, the cabin room remains so spacious that technically the EPA qualified this model as a midsize car. The center console is significantly larger in this 2017 Sentra model, which gives the already roomy cabin a more generous look.

Other options included adaptive cruise control, blind-spot warning with rear cross-path alert. Sentra’s easy fill tire alert system verifies when you are filling the tires with air and when have reached correct pressure. The system will also alert you to over filling. This year the Nissan Sentra gets 2 new trim levels called SR Turbo and NISMO. They are the first turbocharged Sentras ever offered by Nissan in the North American Market. The NISMO model gets a lowered performance-tuned suspension, racing seats, LED tail lights, red interior trim as well as a NISMO specific body kit.
