Nothing stirred the attention of automotive fans and enthusiasts quite like the unveiling of the new concept of the next Dodge Challenger. It was a total throwback to the muscle cars they loved in the 70’s but with all the best technology modern society has to offer. With raw power under the hood, and all the modern day refinements to keep it fresh, this retro auto took the automotive world by storm.

The Dodge Challenger Concept at the start, and pretty close to what it is today, was a two-door Coupe that offers up to five-passenger seating. The performance was powered by a 6.1L V8 engine that produced a roaring 425 horsepower and is paired with a 5-speed automatic transmission with Autostick under the hood.

The Dodge Challenger is a modern-day muscle car with retro styling. The Challenger started in 2009 by introducing a base V6, a mid-level R/T (road and track), and a manual transmission on the R/T and SRT8 (street and racing). The base Dodge Challenger SE is powered by a 3.5L V6 engine with 250 hp and 250 lb-ft of torque, which is paired to a four-speed automatic transmission. Moving up though, the Dodge Challenger R/T is highly-enhanced by a 5.7L HEMI V8 engine that produces of 370 hp and 398 lb-ft of torque and is paired with a 5-speed automatic or an optional 6-speed manual transmission. This is not where the Challenger tops out though; the 2009 Dodge Challenger SRT8 truly dominates with a 6.1L HEMI V8 engine grinding out 425 hp and 420 lb-ft of torque and the same transmissions options as the R/T. The R/T could get from 0-60 in less than six seconds

What people loved about the Challenger though went beyond power, it was about bringing automotive culture back into the world by showing that older doesn’t always mean outdated. The 2008 Dodge Challenger proved that drivers love their nostalgia and that old designs can always come back around again and be made fresh and new for the modern era to adore.
