Silver 2009 Used Chevy Tahoe

Finding yourself a 3rd generation used Chevy Tahoe would benefit both you and your family, especially if you’re tired of the mini van. For one of the older SUVs on the market, the Tahoe has aged quite nicely and continues to impress in 2017. However, the new model isn’t what we’re talking about. We’re here to discuss which used model is best for you. While there are a lot of factors to help make that determination — almost too many to count — it’s a safe bet that if you buy from 2007 to 2014, you’ll be getting a good model. Like all SUVs, the Tahoe features a body-on-frame construction, promoting a stiffer, more durable ride.

The Tahoe is the sister model of the GMC Yukon and shares a very similar build and aesthetic.

Before the Tahoe and its sister vehicle, the GMC Yukon, there were the Blazer and Jimmy models. In 1995, the S-10 Blazer was redesigned as the Blazer, and then Chevrolet decided to rename the full-size Blazer as the Tahoe. The model (quite fittingly) named after the rugged and scenic area surround Lake Tahoe. The Yukon was the off-shoot of the Jimmy in 1992.

It was also in 1995 that the Tahoe ended up becoming a four-door model, as opposed to the previous two-door S-10 Blazer you’d see kicking around. However, a 2-door version was still available. For families looking for an alternative to a mini-van, a four-door Tahoe was perfect. Better off-road and hazardous weather capability, longer wheelbase, higher-stance for a better point of view — all advantages that a minivan doesn’t have when compared to a full-size SUV, such as the Tahoe.

The first generation lasted from 1995 to 1999, and the second generation ran from 2000-2006. The third generation is the second most-recent, and ranged from 2007 to 2014.

When introduced for the 2015 model year, the fourth-generation Chevy Tahoe taught a master class in embracing the strongest attributes of previous model years, while continuing to evolve the vehicle to reflect contemporary demands.

With its track-inspired styling, the Tahoe has retained an appearance that is ‘just rugged enough’, setting it apart from the more streamlined appearance of other wagon-inspired crossover SUVs. That said, its dimensions accommodate three-row seating for up to nine with ease, and its classic styling continues to belie Chevy’s integration of some of the most versatile technologies available.

As we edge towards the four-year mark in this most recent generation, let’s take a closer look at each of the model years that bring the Chevy Tahoe ever-closer to its 25th anniversary.
