Here are a few of the top scenic road trips around Cincinnati to consider taking before the summer ends:

Adams County, Ohio

Just under two hours outside Cincinnati, you can explore the beautiful sights of Adams County, Ohio. Head down the Ohio River Scenic Byway (U.S. 52) and get gorgeous views of the Appalachian Mountains, including hills dotted with redbuds. You can stop off at the Shawnee State Park, visit Amish vendors, or check out Native American artwork at Serpent Mound.

Ohio River Scenic Byway

If you’re up for a longer trip, you can actually drive the whole Ohio River Scenic Byway from Cincinnati to Louisville — a nearly 1,000 mile drive. You’ll see gorgeous views of the Appalachian Mountains, some of the most diverse plant species in the Midwest, charming, rural towns, and much more. If you plan to take this road trip, leave plenty of time to stop and explore along the way. You’ll find a lot of roadside kitsch, as well as a lot of historical sites and a lot of great places to eat along the way.

Historic National Road

Travel in the same footsteps as Annie Oakley and Zane Grey on this historical road that led the way to the west. The Historic National Road was originally built as a throughway to connect the business centers of the East with the newly formed western territories. Along the road, you can find remnants of prehistoric societies, beautiful rolling farmland and mountains, national parks, and much more.

Don’t let this summer pass you by without taking at least one scenic road trip. Buying a new Cincinnati used auto is the perfect excuse to spend some quality time in your car, which will give you a front-seat view of some of the most beautiful landscapes in the country. You may even learn a little about history or pick up a beautiful new piece of hand-crafted artwork.
